Happy New Year, everyone!
Just a quick note to say thank you for your continued support over the last few years. We are doing great, and plan to be around for a long time!
In 2024 alone, we served over 2,000 individual customers, and our best selling item was paperback fiction. That’s not surprising to us, but it is interesting to see it statistically.
We also added many new non-book items to serve our customers (that’s you!) better. In addition to bookmarks and candles, we now have tea, tote bags, mugs, and other “gift” items. My goal is that if you’re looking for a fun treat but don’t want to buy a book, you’ll have plenty of options.
Hope to see you in the shop soon!
Best,
Amanda
Hey everyone,
Just a quick note to say that we are changing the hours when we accept trade-ins. Our new hours will be from 10 am – 2 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am – 12 pm on Saturday.
As a reminder, we are happy to accept books for trade credit or cash. We also accept donations. See our “Used Book Buying Policy” page for more details!
Hey there! It’s been an exciting few months at the Book Shelf. Tony and Amanda (yeah, that’s me) have worked hard to revitalize the shop and make some much needed changes. Here are some of the highlights
As always, we wouldn’t be here without you. Thanks for supporting us and shopping locally 🙂

Big news!
You can now support the Book Shelf when you buy new books at https://bookshop.org/shop/thebookshelfif. When you purchase through Bookshop.org and you see The Book Shelf in the upper left-hand corner, 30% of ANY purchase you make goes to support the Book Shelf!
This means that you can buy all the new books (and gifts) that your heart desires while still supporting us, a locally-owned, independent book store. When you order your book(s), your purchase will be sent directly to your home, and The Book Shelf gets a share of the sale. You can live anywhere in the country and still support The Book Shelf in Idaho Falls.
This is a great way to support Idaho Falls, support local businesses, and keep independent book stores like ours alive. We are excited for this next step for The Book Shelf, and we are forever grateful for you, our supportive community. We wouldn’t be here without you.
We just got a bunch of new science fiction books in! Stop in to see what’s new.

One of our favorite decorations at the Book Shelf is this Helen Aupperle painting. Helen Aupperle was a prominent artist from Idaho Falls, and we’re proud to have her work on display!
Here’s a bit more about her from Paul David Menser’s Legendary Locals of Idaho Falls:: https://www.facebook.com/LegendaryLocalsofIdahoFalls/photos/a.1431145430500503/1542228242725554/?type=1&theater
A year ago at the beginning of February, we officially opened the doors to the Book Shelf! To celebrate, join us during the week of 2/3 to 2/8 for 20% off all books. We appreciate your continued support!
